Tools of the Trade In addition to the proven alloys used throughout the forging industry around the world, equipment unique to the Weld Mold application processes were required. The Weld Mold ARM, for using large electrodes, the Weld Mold Manipulator, for applying Weld Mold wires, and the Weld Mold SafetyRobot, developed for remote manual wire welding as well as programmed wire welding, have all been awarded patents or have patents pending World Class Hand dipping electrodes has given way to modern manufacturing techniques, and the backroom of the grocery store has morphed into the 110,000 square foot facility that Weld Mold has occupied since 1960. Weld Mold has ISO 9001 certification, is REACH compliant, and is a member of AWS, FIA and ASM. In 2017, Weld Mold was honored to receive the ASM Historical Landmark Award for the Flood Welding Process, an honor shared with the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower, among other notable companies, achievements, or locations. Service to our customers has been a hallmark, and with a customer base that extends from forging to mining and from bicycle manufacturing to medical equipment, our technical expertise is unparalleled.

A Family Affair With unbroken family ties, the current CEO and President of Weld Mold Company, Darryl Hammock, is intimately familiar with the forging industry, having grown up with the company as the founder’s grandson and the son of one of the earliest employees and eventual company leader himself, JimHammock. In addition, Weld Mold enjoys the services of a dedicated staff, some of whom have decades of history with the company. The desire that fueled the passion to develop better alloys, procedures, and techniques for tooling repair in the forging industry in 1940’s Detroit has grown into an industry that has reached around the world. ■
