ADVANTAGES OF THE KERS SYSTEM

HIGHER NUMBER OF STROKES PER MINUTE

ENERGY SAVING (UP TO 40%)

LESS WEAR OF MACHINE PARTS (CLUTCH/ BREAK)

LESS DOWNTIMES DUE TO LESS MAINTENANCE

BIG ADVANTAGES FOR DIE LUBRICATION AND PART TRANSPORTATION

BIG BENEFIT FOR CYCLED FORGING PROCESS

HIGHER EFFICIENCY OF THE PRESS

Forging press with KERS System – Higher output by saving up to 40% of energy Conventional press systems for hot forging are not as energy efficient as they could be, because up to 40% of the energy fed into them is converted into heat in clutch and break and dissipates into the environment. The KERS system prevents this – It consists of a torque motor that pre-accelerates the slide and eccentric shaft when a press stroke is initiated. The clutch can then be engaged without friction. After the press stroke, the KERS motor recuperates the energy and decelerates the moving mass. This energy is used to recharge the flywheel. Thanks to KERS, nearly 100% energy efficiency can be achieved.

Due to KERS system an optimized process can be established. The productivity can be more than doubled compared to conventional presses, while at the same time optimized part transportation and die spraying times can be set.

Farina is a part of Schuler Group since 2018. Farina supplies forging presses for hot forging from7.500kN to 160.000kN press force. The presses with the special Scotch Yoke drive system convince by high structural stiffness which results high precision in the forging part and high tilting stiffness for higher off-center loads. Also a reduction of the machine height above floor level by 25% compared to conventional presses can be achieved.
