proposal; Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and Ohio State University (OSU) for their joint proposal. These teams are open to accepting industry partners for this important research. Several members have already stepped up, including Finkl and Queen City Forging. Scholarship Programs The Forging Foundation awards up to 18 new scholarships each year to university students interested in careers in the forging supply chain. First consideration is given to applicants with a connection to the forging industry. Applications open February 1 of each year and are due April 15. Recipients are announced in June.The Forging Foundation offers two different scholarship programs:

Charles W. Finkl Scholarship In commemoration of Charles W. Finkl’s belief in the value of education and technical development in the industry where he spent his career, this scholarship fund will invest in the future of the North American forging industry by encouraging the best and brightest young leaders to gain academic and hands-on training in forging. Forging IndustryWomen’s Scholarship Established and endowed by a gift from Sharon P. Haverstock and contributions from the forging industry, the Forging Industry Women’s Scholarship programwas set up to financially help talented female students become aware of, work towards, and experience the many leadership opportunities that a career in manufacturing and the forging industry holds. This scholarship is looking to reward the best and brightest women who have the desire and potential to reach executive or senior leadership levels.

President’s Challenge

Thank you for rising to the occasionbymaking a $1,500 contribution to the Presidents’ Challenge! The Forging Foundation Board of Trustees decided to match the current donations up to $20,000. This decision allowed us to double the number of $500 scholarships awarded to students enrolled in engineering or manufacturing programs at local community colleges and trade schools.
