FRED, the web based application for calculating the Product Carbon Footprint, helps in identifying the potentials for reducing CO₂ emissions. FRED has been certified according to the ISO 14067 by an accredited certification agency. FRED, being a result of efforts of the German Forging Association IMU, is offered for a low entry and support fee to members of the FIA. Uniting a sufficient number of users, FRED is developing into the metal forming industries quasi standard for PCF calculation.
