Value Stream Mapping (VSM) 101 for Forging Operations November 12-13, 2024 – Independence, OH

This workshop will introduce the Value Stream Mapping methodology using a forging related case study. Participants will develop value stream maps for their own organizations and will be asked to complete pre-work prior to the workshop to maximize the benefits of this activity. Finally, a review of the time-tested Plan-Do Check-Act improvement process and the various methodologies based on PDCA will be provided. The real challenge isn’t mapping, it’s making the envisioned future state a reality. So, bring several colleagues with you and together begin your organization’s Lean journey using the powerful Value Stream Mapping approach.

Mechanical Press Maintenance Workshop November 21-22, 2024 – Independence, OH

This 1½ day workshop will act to introduce participants to the different types of mechanical presses. It will provide an explanation of the various elements of the press to provide an understanding of how they work and their interaction and influence on other parts of the press forging process. The emphasis of this workshop is predictive and preventative maintenance of the elements of the press, how to improve the uptime of your machines, and items that should be taken into consideration when planning a repair.

Heating Technology for Forging Workshop: Gas & Induction December 12-13, 2024 – Independence, OH

The FIA Heating Technology for Forging Workshop is a two-day training that includes gas heating and induction heating for forging. Topics include combustion fundamentals, burner management, ceramic fiber manufacturing, increased production through furnace design, furnace efficiency, induction heating basics, coil design, electrical control systems, preventative maintenance and more. Attendees are welcome to register for the entire workshop or for an individual day.
