INDUSTRY NEWS

The Women in Forging Luncheon on May 14 brought together female professionals and students from across the industry for a dedicated session of mentorship, connection, and empowerment. The luncheon continues to be a hallmark of FIA’s ongoing commitment to supporting women in the industry. Perhaps the most energetic moments came on the final day during the FIERF Forging Competition and Career Day. Student teams from academic institutions competed in a live hammer-making contest, showcasing both ingenuity and skill. Their blacksmithing creations were displayed in Academic Alley and voted on by attendees via the mobile app. The competition reminded everyone of the importance of investing in the next generation of forging professionals. Looking Ahead Forge Fair 2025 succeeded in reinforcing the forging industry’s vitality, collaborative spirit, and future-forward mindset. The strong attendance, exhibitor presence, and programming underscored the value FIA brings to its members and the broader manufacturing community. As Interim President & CEO Angela Gibian noted, “The success of Forge Fair 2025 is a testament to the strength and dedication of our members, our exhibitors, and the broader forging community.

Dynamic Programming and Keynote Moments Technical education was a central pillar of Forge Fair 2025, with exhibitor-led presentations taking place throughout each day. These sessions offered attendees a deep dive into topics such as advanced heating systems, process optimization, material innovation, and digital manufacturing solutions. One of the standout moments came during the Wednesday morning keynote by Shayla Rivera—an aerospace engineer, former NASA rocket scientist, and now a motivational speaker, educator, and comedian. Rivera delivered an inspiring and entertaining message on leadership, self-awareness, and personal experience that resonated with the audience. On Thursday, Forge Fair closed with a special panel tied to the FIERF Forging Competition. Moderated by Pat Nowak of Scot Forge, the panel featured renowned blacksmith and television personalities Ben Abbot and David Baker from “Forged in Fire”, and metalwork historian Phillip E. Harrison. The discussion focused on innovation, craftsmanship, and the intersection of traditional and modern forging techniques. Signature Events and Community Building Forge Fair was more than a technical and business showcase—it was a hub for connection. Networking receptions at the end of each day gave attendees and exhibitors time to unwind and engage in meaningful conversations.

We’re proud of what we accomplished together and even more excited for what’s ahead.” Forge Fair 2027 will take place May 18-20, 2027 and return to the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, OH.
