REMEMBERING DAN ULVEN

O n behalf of the Forging Industry Association (FIA), we are deeply saddened to share the passing of Daniel “Dan” Ulven, a respected industry leader, devoted FIA member and dear friend to many throughout the forging community. Dan passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2026, at the age of 53.

feel valued, whether through a quick phone call, an unexpected visit or a conversation that showed he remembered the details that mattered. His presence in FIA was no different — he was engaged, thoughtful, generous with his time and deeply respected by his peers. The FIA staff, members and Board of Directors extend their heartfelt condolences to Dan’s wife, Adrian; his children, Madison, Drake, Talon and Keegan; his grandchildren; his family; his colleagues at The Ulven Companies; and all who loved him. Dan’s legacy of service, leadership, friendship and devotion to the forging industry will not be forgotten.

Dan gave generously of his time, leadership and judgment to the broader forging community, serving on FIA’s Defense Advisory Committee, Public Policy Committee and Nominating Committee. He also served as an FIA Board Director from 2020– 2023 and as FIA Board Chairman from 2022–2023. Colleagues across the industry knew him as someone who showed up, listened carefully and brought a steady, relational style to the work — qualities that strengthened our committees, our Board and our association. Dan began working in the family business, The Ulven Companies, at the age of 16 and learned the business from the ground up. He later became sole owner in 2022 and took great pride not only in the company, but in the people and relationships that made it meaningful. Those who knew Dan will remember his warmth, sincerity and genuine care for others. He had a special ability to make people
