EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY

Forging a Preventative Future in Safety Every single safety program, no matter the industry, shares a goal of zero accidents. To reach that goal, we need to look at the way we approach safety. Zero accidents begin with each one of us. A safer forging industry means challenging the way we have always done things. It means we must recognize that the act of a near miss, even when not resulting in injury or worse, still presents danger. Technology like Worker-Centric AI™ will give us what we need to ensure every single father, mother, daughter, and son makes it home at the end of every workday - true preventative power. Preventative Power withWorker-Centric AI™ Protecting workers in industrial settings like forging calls for solutions that do more than just monitor and report. It demands technologies that protect and empower. Everguard.ai developed Worker-Centric AI™, an artificial intelligence platform that creates a conscious environment powered by sensor fusion that senses distress and danger long before a human can. Our enterprise platform, Sentri360® utilizes Worker-Centric AI™ to sync technologies and create a zone of safety that surrounds a team – deploying a truly proactive approach. To understand how Worker-Centric AI™ works, imagine a forklift carrying an extremely hot alloy piece just retrieved from the anvil. The forklift driver is moving north, but a busy worker who has his or her back towards the crane is moving south. The worker has no idea that he or she is moments away from walking directly into the path of this extremely hot load. The area in this facility is equipped with sensor fusion AI, computer vision, lidar/radar, in addition to wearable devices and other sensors that are continuously monitoring and feeding input to be analyzed by edge servers. Camera A, attached to the forklift, tells the system that the forklift is moving and in what direction, Camera B views a worker only steps away from walking into the path of the forklift, and also relays that input to the system. The data is processed almost instantly to create an alert sent to the worker via a wearable device before he or she steps in front of the dangerous load. In addition to the camera attached to the forklift, a sensor can also be placed on it to surround the mobile equipment with a geofence. If a worker ventures within inches of the geofence, an alert is sent to the wearable on his or her wrist within seconds, preventing the unsafe behavior. In this scenario, Sentri360® utilizing Worker-Centric AI™ is able to help the workers avoid a dangerous situation and prevent an accident or worse, before it happens. This type of technology allows us to not only change the way we think about safety, but also truly have preventative power.
