From the production team to everyone behind the scenes, the success of the company does not fall solely on one department. Start having conversations about the roles that are sometimes overlooked in manufacturing such as engineering, marketing, sales, customer support, supply chain and financial roles. Visit classrooms and talk about all the amazing careers in manufacturing. Internships and Co-Ops Internships and co-ops are a benefit to the student and employer.The student can put their years of education to practice in the field while gaining a network in their industry of interest. Interns also gain on the job experience while the company receives brand exposure as well as insight from the next generation of potential employees. These opportunities provide real world professional experience for students while allowing the company to evaluate a potential future hire for their team. Partner with your local technical schools and college universities to find students interested in what you have to offer. Engage the students, provide them resources and training, building your workforce for the future. In my experience, my internship provided me with the exposure I needed to find my love for the industry. It also allowed me to expandmy network which led to my current position today at Onex.
