FIA is pleased to welcome Dekland Barnum who has been hired as the new Sr. Technical Manager for FIA and FIERF. Dekland will work directly with Jim Warren, President & CEO and will be responsible for influencing technical direction for forging research and development; monitoring technical projects funded by the Forging Foundation (FIERF) and Department of Defense (DoD) funded projects. Dekland will also assist in Dekland Barnum was previously engaged with FIA and FIERF as a Senior Project Manager for Advanced Technology International (ATI) in Summerville, SC supporting the Forging Defense Manufacturing Consortium (FDMC). Dekland has a Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI). He has authored and co-authored numerous articles published in FIA Magazine and served as a member of the FIA Technical Committee. Prior to entering the forging industry, he applied his material science education in the nanomaterials and adhesives industries. Dekland enjoys learning and talking about the latest gadgets and gizmos in the food and tech worlds, as well as sampling the latest concoctions at the local breweries. Forging Industry Association Welcomes New Senior Technical Manager soliciting funding from the DoD for projects, manage project needs and contract requirements, and serve as the staff liaison for FIA’s Technical Committee. We look forward to having him also teach some of our fundamental forging courses and helping the organization grow our eLearning content in Forging University.
