MAINTENANCE

In today’s competitive marketplace, it’s critical to track machine condition to minimize unscheduled downtime and emergency breakdowns. Symptoms almost always appear before failure. Inspect and benchmark, and you will see improvements in quality and throughput. Jeff Fredline PRESTRADE Phone: 615-517-4282 Email: jeff@prestradesolutions.com

Step 8 — Check Lubrication System Function and Condition • Is there lubricant in the reservoir? • Is the system operating properly? • Using a flashlight, can you see evidence of proper lubrication throughout the machine? • Are any lubrication lines or fittings broken or crushed? • Is there evidence of contamination or excessive heat on any way or rotational surfaces? • Using a heat gun, can you locate bearing surfaces that appear to be running above normal limits? Step 9 — Check Electrical Controls • Do the electrical controls function properly? • Is there a fusible disconnect? • Are any control lights or buttons damaged? • Is any wiring damaged, or are any covers missing? • Is any wiring loose? • What is the machine stopping time? • Do the palm-button controls function properly (anti-tie down, anti-repeat)?
