GRACE CANTRELL JOINS SCOT FORGE

T he Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation (FIERF) is proud to celebrate Grace Cantrell, a Metallurgical and Materials Engineering student at the Colorado School of Mines, who has accepted an engineering position with Scot Forge. Grace, a recipient of the Forging Industry Women’s Scholarship, was mentored by Scot Forge engineers, who helped introduce her to the forging industry. She distinguished herself

“We’re thrilled to welcome Grace Cantrell to the Scot Forge Metallurgy department after her graduation. Grace brings fresh technical expertise that will help us push the limits of forging, develop innovative manufacturing methods and tackle some of the toughest challenges in our industry. We’re excited to have her join the team this summer.” Grace’s forging course instructor, Prof. Terry Lowe, added: “Grace is the second student this year to complete Mines’ Forging and Forming course to begin a career in the forging industry. Judging from the enthusiasm for forging that she exhibited in class, I expect Grace will be an all-star contributor to the forging industry.” Grace explained, “A major reason I was attracted to Scot Forge is the people. They are truly committed to their work and dedicated to both the company and its customers – a quality that’s further emphasized by Scot Forge’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).” (Scot Forge is 100% employee-owned.) Grace’s journey highlights the impact of mentorship, scholarship support and hands-on education in preparing the next generation of leaders in forging.

Upon graduating with her master’s degree in May 2026, Grace will join Scot Forge’s Metallurgy team under the guidance of experienced metallurgist Matt Charlton. Matt expressed his excitement:
