FIA Member Feature: Weldaloy Specialty Forgings By Weldaloy Specialty Forgings
Forging copper is not new, it is one of the oldest metals, dating back to before Biblical times, and would often be forged into small tools and weaponry. Today, copper forgings are used in many applications. From power generation and electronic components to various engine and rocket components, the need and demand for copper alloys continue to grow. This is currently one of the reasons why the price of copper is currently at a historic high.
Integrated Product Offering At Weldaloy, our processes are integrated from the moment an RFQ is received, through production, testing, and through final delivery. This includes machining, heat treating, and testing. This ensures that our customer’s needs are always at the forefront of our business, and their feedback greatly shapes how we move forward as a company. Weldaloy is dedicated to finding creative solutions to our customers’ challenges and needs. Most of our customers know what they want, but are not experienced forgers. This is where we step in – our technical team has decades of experience in forging. Whether our customers require engineering assistance or metallurgical support – our expert team is ready to serve our customers. “The biggest thing that has made us successful all these years is we don't focus on one product line. We are still small enough that we are willing to take on a little guy and the big guy,” Allen Densmore said, Senior Process Engineer for Weldaloy. Allen has been a Weldaloy employee for over twenty-five years. “We will help anybody,” Densmore continued, “We don't just take orders for 5,000 parts. And if you don't give us 5,000 parts, then I can’t quote you. No. We're still small enough that we provide a lot of engineering support to people to get the forging correct to meet our customers' need.”
When it comes to forging copper alloys, no other forging company can compete with Weldaloy Specialty Forgings. For 75 years, customers have relied on Weldaloy for their copper forging and machining needs. Weldaloy forges copper parts in a variety of shapes and sizes to some of the top companies in the US and beyond. In recent years, we’ve been able to use our foundation of forging copper alloys to expand our capabilities. We’ve been able to add different metal groups to our inventory to include nickel-based superalloys, titanium, and stainless steels. We specialize in open die forging and seamless rolled rings. But why is Weldaloy sought after for copper forgings? What makes Weldaloy different from other copper forging suppliers?
Other forging suppliers can be dismissive towards smaller order quantities. They can become set in their ways regarding pricing and lead times - adding strains to customers’ deadlines and expenses. At Weldaloy we pride ourselves on being able to forge custom parts that meet the exact requirements for our customers.
