MATERIALS
Summary: Many standard and highly productive tooling solutions today are based upon standard AISI H13 - Bohler W302 ISODISC hot work tool steel. For increasing demands on productivity innovative tooling materials with higher hot wear resistance and higher thermal stability are required which can be achieved by adaption of the properties profiles of the classical 5 percent Cr-Mo-V steels by optimization of the chemical composition, application of special metallurgical measures and the advanced production processes. These innovative alloying concepts frequently allow higher productivity, i.e higher tool life in many applications of hot forging. As one of the world leading manufacturer of all kinds of tool steels voestalpine BOHLER Edelstahl offers a number of innovative custom-made premium hot work tool steels for all kinds of commercial and technical needs. ■
As it can be seen in Figure 4, tools made of BohlerW360 ISOBLOC enable a further significant increase in tool life and productivity due to its excellent combination of hot wear resistance and toughness.
