Technological Developments Supporting the Forging Industry FICEP Combines Strength and Control for Higher

Productivity By Carlo Maffei

FICEP establishes itself as an integrated partner to the international forging industry, offering all the necessary technologies for the devel opment of a complete line, from bar cutting to hot forging presses. Innovative Technology for Precision and Efficiency Focused on producing innovative technology, FICEP addresses the problems of variability and complexity associated with traditional presses. Conventional friction screw presses have considerable vari ability in operation due to wear on the leather clutch and environ mental factors, which can affect results over time. These systems also have many components, making maintenance complex.

The new line, called Direct Drive, features a simpler architecture with fewer components, eliminating the mechanical transmission. In this system, the Brushless motor drives the screw directly, allowing precise speed and braking control through software. This accurate control of the screw speed influences the descent speed of the ram and the kinetic energy available at the moment of impact with the workpiece. Precise speed control during the down stroke of the ram is crucial in the forging process, as it determines the amount of energy transferred to the raw material and consequently the accuracy of the finished part. The Direct Drive system works like a numerical control,
