How Do You Manage Your Current Maintenance Staff? Finding employees that really care about their job has become a challenge. Many different things play into their attitudes and beliefs. Employees want to feel a part of the decision-making process. As they can take ownership of their work cells you will begin to see changes. Of course, compensation is critical to retaining employees, both benefits and financial. Top-down autocratic management styles do not work well in today’s environment. Involve your team members in the process, treat them as valuable to your organization and you will see improvement. Establish Partnerships With Critical Suppliers Finally establish relationships with suppliers that can cover your production needs in the event of an emergency breakdown. This can be difficult, but well worth the effort. As with any good business relationship, make sure that there is excellent two-way communica tion. Always pay your valuable suppliers on time, that way they will strive to serve you according to your needs. degrees F, you likely have a lubrication failure. If you catch it early you can determine the cause of the failure and correct it. The same rules apply to clutch/brake and other problems. It is best to include basic troubleshooting skills even at the operator level. Consider having the operator take responsibility for visual monitoring during production. You can always do visual checks for noise, tonnage moni toring and lubrication issues.
