Women of Steel: How the Ladies of Universal Stainless Got Their Start in The Industry

According to the Manufacturing Institute, “Women today account for less than one in three manufacturing workers, despite representing about half of the overall workforce.” Right now, our industry, among many others, is facing a labor shortage. This workforce crisis emphasizes the need for attracting and retaining a variety of diverse employees, including women. It is important that businesses in forging, metals and manufacturing address ways to engage women in the industry and support them in their efforts to develop their careers.

Right now, FIAMember Company, Universal Stainless employs approximately 44 women across their four locations. We asked some of the women of Universal Stainless to tell us a little bit about themselves, and how they got started in their careers.
