About Universal Stainless Universal Stainless’ culture of diversity and inclusion is based, in part, by maintaining a unique alliance with employees and suppliers to enhance productivity. Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate, including nickel alloy, stainless steel, tool steel and aircraft quality low alloy steels, in a wide variety of grades and product forms. Their products are sold to service centers, forgers, rerollers and original equipment manufacturers, and are further processed by our customers for use in a variety of industries, including aerospace, power generation, oil & gas and heavy equipment manufacturing. They operate a state-of-the-art hydraulic SMX 650 Radial Forge at their North Jackson facility that produces

bars and forged blocks. Women in Forging

The Forging Industry Association recently started the “Women in Forging” group to help women in the forging industry connect, network, build relationships, mentor young women and empower females in the forging industry to continue to grow in leadership roles. Donna is a Lab Technician. She has been with USAP for three months. She got into manufacturing because she was looking for a new experience. For those considering a job in the industry, Donna says “Try it!” MaLynda Astle Universal Stainless, Bridgeville

MaLynda Astle is a Lab Technician with Universal Stainless and she has also been with the company for approximately 3 months. Prior to joining USAP she was tired of working in a job that got her nowhere. That’s what attracted her to this position. As far as what she would say to women looking to get into manufacturing, her advice is “Go for it! I think it is a great career to get involved in.”
