2023 Forging Lightweight Alloys Conference & Plant Tour March 6-8, 2023

Individuals interested in presenting a technical paper at the conference must complete the attached presentation confirmation form and submit the requested information in English by November 15, 2022 to Angela Gibian (angela@forging.org) for the Forging Lightweight Alloys Conference Subcommittee’s review. Categories of Interest: • Materials used in lightweight forging (aluminum, titanium, magnesium) • OEM needs and requirements from lightweight forgings • Advancements in lightweight forging technology • Equipment: presses, lubrication, automation, furnaces/induction heaters, ring rolling, cutting, machining • Post-forging process related to lightweight alloys • Design principles for lightweight alloys versus carbon steel • Processes: heating prior to forging, heat treating, post-machining • Tooling: die design, die materials, die maintenance • Material handling: robotics, conveyance Presentations: Presentations are expected to present process driven technical content, rather than a sales presentation. Presentations are 45 minutes in length, including Q&A. Presentations must be approved and accepted by the Forging Lightweight Alloys Subcommittee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their work in-person at the conference. Presenters agree to provide both a digital copy of the paper to be included in the conference proceedings and PowerPoint slides to be used in the presentation two weeks prior to the conference. Speakers are responsible for registration, travel and hotel accommodations (a reduced group rate has been negotiated with the hotel). Slides should be created in wide-screen (16:9) format. Presenters will be provided with a podium, slide advancer, podium mic (option for wireless mic upon request), confidencemonitor, and projection set-up. Presenters should bring a copy of their presentation with them to the conference on a flash drive/USB.
