Scholarship Programs The Forging Foundation awards scholarships each year to university students interested in careers in the forging supply chain. CharlesW. Finkl Scholarships are available to engineering juniors and seniors in the amount of $2,000 per year. Forging Industry Women’s Scholarship are awarded up to $5,000 per year to women seeking degrees in engineering or business. The Al Underys Engineering, Metallurgical & Material Sciences Memorial Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in engineering. Al Underys Memorial Scholarship recipients will be matched with an FIA member company to complete an available internship opportunity.

Forge the Future - K-12 Camps The Forging Foundation (FIERF) will begin offering Forge the Future Camps – K-12 Camps starting in the summer of 2023. These camps will help to engage with and educate even younger students about the forging industry.

Forging University to Students/ Educators FIA now offers their eLearning platform, Forging University, at no charge to students and educators.This provides professors and instructors with materials and tools to not only introduce students to the industry but also educate them on topics such as metallurgy, induction heating, die care, heat treatment, etc.

Forging Competition New for 2023, students and educators will join for the first ever FIERF Forging Competition for a hands-on opportunity to learn more about forging. Teams of up to four students and one faculty advisor will compete for the chance to win recognition and prizes at this year’s Forge Fair.

Training &Certificate Programs FIA offers in-person training programs and workshops to help tool and upskill employees in the forging industry. In addition, it is a part of the FIA Strategic Plan to implement certificate programs.

Internship Opportunities &Career Center The FIA Career Center allows FIA Members to post job openings and view resumes of individuals seeking employment in the forging industry at no cost. You can also pay a fee to expand the reach of your posting to the Engineering & Science Career Network. Positions are posted, edited or deleted at your convenience from your desktop. It is also free to post internship opportunities. In addition, FIERF will share company internship opportunities with a contact list of students and educators.
