RECAP OF THE 33RD FORGING INDUSTRY TECHNICAL CONFERENCE

T he 2024 Forging Industry Technical Conference, held on September 17-18 at the picturesque Bayfront Landing in Erie, PA, was a resounding success, attracting more than 120 representatives from both industry and academia. Organized by the FIERF Technical Committee, the confer ence focused on the latest advancements in forging technology, featuring a rich lineup of diverse presentations on various processes, materials, and end-use markets. The event kicked off with an insightful plant tour of Ajax/CECO/Erie Press, the largest forging equipment supplier in North America, which boasts over 300 years of combined forging expertise. This tour set the tone for the

conference, highlighting the depth of knowledge and innovation within the forging industry. Throughout the conference, attendees benefited from technical presentations by industry experts, engaging reports on FIERF-funded research projects, and outcomes from collabora tive industry groups. These sessions provided valuable insights and fostered robust discussions among participants, creating excellent networking opportunities among industry profes sionals, academic researchers, and partners.
