As shown in Table 2, there are currently thirty-seven FIA member companies that forge aluminum. These companies are located across North America including companies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. When surveying the aluminum forging industry for the biggest challenge(s) ahead, it is neither the lack of North American raw materials and conversion, nor forging capacity. Technical Considerations Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy forgings, as compared to other structural materials, are characterized by high relative strength in the wide temperature range and excellent corrosion resistance in many chemically aggressive environments (see Figure 6). Although its high temperature limit is lower than other choices like titanium and steel (see Figure 7).
