Metform’s Hot Forging Fleet Is Growing

Metform, a hot forging division of MacLean-Fogg, is adding a new Hatebur Hotformer to its fleet of hot forging presses.

“With an ever-evolving marketplace, the need for larger forgings is on the rise. The addition of the Hatebur HM35 will help support this new business, and will be number 11 in our fleet,” said Steve Wright, General Manager of Metform. Metform is comprised of three locations across Savanna, IL and Mt. Carroll, IL, and has the largest fleet of Hatebur Hotformers installed in North America.

Their expertise consists of horizontal hot forging, machining, and light assembly of components primarily for the transportation industries. They also provide CNC machining, tapping, warm and cold forming, PTFE coating, heat treatment, broaching and hobbing, drilling, staking, and deflection. “We have a fantastic team here at Metform. With a small-town culture and excellent work ethic, we’re able to provide exceptional on-time delivery and quality,” commented Wright. MacLean-Fogg has also invested substantial capital into Metform’s forging operations, with a new AMP 20N in 2022 and now the addition of the HM35 coupled with a NEW CEFI bar heater, this will allow them to increase their forging capacities.
