EXPANDED FIA THEORY & APPLICATIONS OF FORGING AND DIE DESIGN COURSE RETURNS IN 2026 Build Stronger Fundamentals. Design Better Dies. Solve Real Forging Challenges. By FIA Staff

Participants will explore key topics including forging terminology, material behavior, equipment selection, deformation mechanics, friction, forging loads, die materials, simulation, die failure analysis, defect prevention, CAD and digital design tools, die block design, tooling systems, trimming and special processes, die sinking concerns, tooling life cycle management, and the economics of die design. The expanded schedule features instruction from multiple industry experts and includes interactive problem-solving sessions, hands-on activities, networking opportunities, and case-based learning. Sessions will cover both foundational concepts and advanced applications, giving attendees practical tools they can take back to their operations immediately. By the end of the course, participants should be better prepared to understand forging processes and terminology, evaluate materials and process options, select appropriate equipment, predict forging loads and metal flow, design dies for cost, quality and longevity, identify defects and die failures, apply simulation tools, and collaborate on real-world forging challenges. The course is ideal for forging design engineers, manufacturing engineers, process planners, tooling and die shop personnel, production supervisors and managers, quality engineers, R&D and product development staff, technical sales and application engineers, and new engineers or technicians entering the forging industry. Whether attendees are designing tooling, troubleshooting production issues, improving manufacturability, or building a stronger technical foundation, the redesigned course offers practical value for a wide range of roles. Registration is now open. FIA member pricing is $1,600 for the first attendee and $1,000 for each additional attendee. Non-member pricing is $2,000 for the first attendee and $1,400 for each additional attendee. The registration deadline is June 30, 2026, and early registration is encouraged. Course Dates: July 14–17, 2026 Location: FIA Headquarters, 6363 Oak Tree Blvd., Independence, OH 44131 Registration Deadline: June 30, 2026 Learn more and register through FIA at www.forging.org/ events.

T he Forging Industry Association has redesigned and expanded its Theory and Applications of Forging and Die Design Course, creating a longer, more comprehensive training experience for professionals across the forging supply chain. The updated program will be held July 14–17, 2026, at FIA Headquarters in Independence, Ohio. This immersive, multi-day course brings together forging fundamentals, practical die design instruction, simulation technology, hands-on activities, and real-world problem solving. With new content and a broader instructor lineup, the course is designed to help participants connect the “why” behind forging theory with the “how” of better process and tooling decisions. “This redesigned course represents the first of many FIA training programs that will undergo a thoughtful curriculum and content upgrade. Our goal is to improve and modernize all of FIA’s training offerings, so they continue to reflect the needs of today’s forging industry and prepare our workforce for the challenges ahead,” said Angela Gibian, FIA Deputy Chief Executive.
