History of Innovation Oliver Crosby founded the company in 1881 after developing the first ‘Red-U-Bolt’ wire rope clip, one of the most recognizable products in the material handling industry today–the standard by which all other clips are measured. As an industry leader in metallurgy, Crosby perfected the Quench & Tempering® method of heat treatment of steel in 1973.
