FIERF HOSTS TWO FORGE THE FUTURE SUMMER CAMPS
T he Forging Foundation (FIERF) held not one, but TWO Forge the Future Summer Camps this year! The first camp was July 8-10 at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in Cleveland, OH and the second camp was August 5-6 at Macomb Community College in Warren, MI. There were 25 students aged 11-15 years old that attended the summer camps to learn more about forging. Students participated in several hands-on STEM activities that taught the campers about forging materials, equipment, and processes. Campers even had the opportunity to tour forging plants Rose Metals Industries (Cleveland) and American Axle and Manu facturing (Royal Oak, Michigan). After watching a forging demon stration, students were able to cold forge their own die! Some of the campers’ favorite things included the plant tour and creating their own forging. It was such a fun experience to be able to expose the younger generation to the world of forging! We are excited to host more camps in the future and have started working on plans for next year!
