New Design Solutions of Four-Die Forging Devices (FDFDs) and Their Technological Capabilities By Dr. Viktor Lazorkin, Lazorkin-Engineering LLC, Zaporozhye, Ukraine By Dmitry Lazorkin, Lazorkin-Engineering LLC, Zaporozhye, Ukraine By Roman Onischenko, Lazorkin-Engineering LLC, Zaporozhye, Ukraine By Sergey Kuralekh, Lazorkin-Engineering LLC, Berlin, Germany
1. Abstract Three decades of hands-on experience in operation and design development of Four-Die Forging Devices (FDFDs) under various industrial conditions on a variety of hydraulic presses proved that in every particular case, and with respect to the particular production needs, an individual approach is required to select both the proper FDFD design and the proper forging technology. The main selection criteria for the selection of proper device design and forging technology are: high metal quality and high production process output, reduction of the processing cycle for the production of forgings, and high accuracy of the produced forgings. This article presents the main design types of FDFD, which were developed by Lazorkin-Engineering Company, and provides an overview of their capabilities. New systems for mounting and fixing dies in FDFD and their capabilities are also described in the article, as well as the systems for mounting FDFD onto a movable press cross-beam and on a working table of the press. Technological capabilities of all FDFD types are presented, as well as the actual examples of forging technologies using FDFD. Also, the information about the industrial application of FDFDs worldwide is provided.
2.TheMain Types of the Design Solutions for FDFDs Developed by Lazorkin-Engineering Company The many years of experience in the design development of FDFDs and their operation under various industrial conditions have proven that an individual approach for every particular case is always required in order to select the optimal design solution for FDFD and forging technology for this device. Lazorkin-Engineering Company developed several types of FDFD design schemes, which are used depending on the type of technological task to be solved and taking into account the type of customer’s forging press design [1]. They differ from each other by the method of how dies are applied against a workpiece. All FDFD types can work with different modifications of forging presses and with varieties of radial forging machines (RFMs).
